Ubuntu JeOS 7.10 released!
November 15th, 2007 | by TualatriX |This morning I’ve received an e-mail from ubuntu-announce mailing list. Its title is the same as this artilce: Ubuntu JeOS 7.10 released.
What? I’ve never heard that the official of Ubuntu will release another distribution during these days. I’m confused.
But when I read the content of the mail, I’m so exciting! Let me tell you what’s the JeOS!
Quote from the announce:
The Ubuntu team is happy to announce the first release of Ubuntu JeOS, Ubuntu JeOS 7.10. Pronounced “juice”, Ubuntu JeOS (Just Enough Operating System) is an efficient variant of Ubuntu configured specifically for virtual appliances.
So, the “juice”, is a distribution for virtual appliances.
I often play with virtual pc in the past, because I have only a computer, when I want to do some experiment between computers, I have to build an virtual pc.
In most case, I don’t need the totally components of an system, just a basic cli environment and the basic network. My laptop has only 512MB memory, so I want an efficient system, if it is based on Ubuntu it’ll be a nice thing.
Today, it become true!
Just have the juice of Ubuntu JeOS!
Download from the link, JeOS is only 151MB!
