Before you install any CDEmu packages I recommend you remove any old CDEmu packages along with old configuration files. In the synaptic package manager this is known as "complete removal" and in apt-get it is known as "purge". Any old leftover configuration files are likely to cause problems.
If you find any packaging bugs you can report them by clicking on the "bugs" button above.
After installation you have to run "gnome-session-properties" as a regular user to enable the CDEmu daemon, then log out of X and then in again to start it. For security reasons you should not run the CDEmu daemon using the init script on computers that have more than one user.
Once CDEmu is running you can add the gCDEmu applet by right-clicking on the panel, then select "add to panel ...". Assuming you installed the libmirage2-data package you are also able to mount CD/DVD images by simply clicking on them in the file manager.
